Storytelling Through Images (Narrative Unit)
Tell a story. Frame by frame. Use photography to build a narrative or illustrate idioms with AI.
Vocabulary
Narrative
A story told through a sequence of images. A photo narrative has a beginning, middle, and end — and uses visual choices to guide the viewer through the story.
Sequence
The order in which images are presented. Sequence controls pacing, tension, and meaning — the same images in a different order can tell a completely different story.
Idiom
A phrase whose meaning is different from the literal meaning of its words — 'it's raining cats and dogs,' 'break a leg.' Illustrating idioms visually requires creative interpretation.
AI Image Generation
Using artificial intelligence tools (like Adobe Firefly) to generate images from text descriptions. AI tools are creative collaborators — the quality of your prompt determines the quality of the output.
Work Log
A documented record of your creative process — decisions made, problems encountered, solutions found. A work log shows the thinking behind the work.
Portfolio Piece
A finished work selected for inclusion in your portfolio — your best, most representative work. Not everything you make is a portfolio piece.
Caption
Text that accompanies an image to provide context, title, or meaning. A strong caption adds to the image without simply describing what's already visible.
