Unit 5 · Project 3Final Project

Story Portfolio Piece + Work Log

Select your strongest narrative image or sequence and document your full creative process.

Every unit ends with a portfolio piece — your best, most finished work selected for your growing portfolio. For Unit 5, you'll select either your photo story or your idiom illustration as your portfolio piece, refine it to its highest quality, and document the full creative process in a work log. The work log is as important as the final piece — it shows your thinking, your decisions, your problems and solutions. Professional artists and photographers keep work logs. This is yours.

Objectives

  • 1Select your strongest work from Unit 5 as your portfolio piece
  • 2Refine it to its highest quality — final edit, final crop, final presentation
  • 3Complete a work log documenting: initial idea, process, problems, solutions, final decisions
  • 4Submit portfolio piece + work log together

Materials

  • Your Unit 5 work files
  • Visual journal or digital document for work log
  • Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop for final refinement

Tips

  • A portfolio piece should be the best version of your best idea — don't rush the final refinement
  • Your work log should be honest — include what didn't work, not just what did
  • Present your portfolio piece as if it's going in a gallery — title, dimensions, medium
  • The work log is graded separately from the portfolio piece — both matter
