About the Class
Everything you need to know about Multimedia Art & Design — the course, the expectations, and how to reach your teacher.
Course Overview
Multimedia Art & Design is a year-long studio course that blends traditional art-making with digital tools, fiber arts, and design thinking. Students explore visual communication, craft, and creative problem-solving across ten units — from drawing fundamentals to fashion design and beyond.
Our Philosophy
This class is built on the belief that everyone is creative. You don't need to be a "natural artist" — you need curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and the courage to make mistakes. We learn by doing.
Each unit is designed to build on the last, layering new skills and concepts while giving you space to develop your own visual voice. By the end of the year, you'll have a portfolio of work you're genuinely proud of.
Expectations
Participation & Effort
- Show up ready to work — materials out, phone away, mind open.
- Effort matters more than perfection. Try things, take risks, iterate.
- Respect the studio space and your classmates' work.
Projects & Deadlines
- Projects are due at the end of each unit — check the Assignments page for the full sequence.
- Late work is accepted with a conversation — talk to me before the deadline, not after.
- Unfinished work can be revised and resubmitted for a higher grade.
Materials & Studio
- Class supplies are provided. Personal sketchbooks are encouraged.
- Clean up your area before the bell — this is a shared creative space.
- Handle tools and equipment with care. Report anything broken immediately.
