Unit 9 · Project 4Final Project
Final Capstone + Studio Photo
Your capstone is complete — now you need to document it professionally. You'll photograph your piece in the classroom studio setup (backdrop, lighting) and submit both the physical piece and a high-quality photograph. The photograph should show the piece at its best: good lighting, clean background, and a composition that highlights what makes it special. You'll also write a final artist statement (1 paragraph) describing your process, challenges, and what you're most proud of.
Objectives
- 1Piece is fully complete and display-ready
- 2Studio photograph taken with proper lighting and backdrop
- 3Photo exported at minimum 2000px on the longest side
- 4Final artist statement written (1 paragraph, 5–8 sentences)
Materials
- Your completed capstone piece
- Studio backdrop and lighting (provided in classroom)
- Camera or phone with good camera
- Computer for writing artist statement
Tips & Techniques
1Clean your piece before photographing — fingerprints and dust show up in photos
2Take at least 10 photos from different angles and distances — choose the best one
3Your artist statement should be honest — talk about what was hard, not just what went well
4Sign your piece somewhere — even if it's just your initials on the bottom
