Unit 9 · Project 2
Core Construction
With your approved proposal and blueprints in hand, you'll build the core structure of your capstone piece. This is the foundation — the armature, the base form, the main panels, or whatever structural element your project requires. Core construction should be complete before you move to surface decoration and fine detailing. Document your process with photos at each major stage.
Objectives
- 1Core structure complete and structurally sound
- 2Dimensions match your blueprints (within 10%)
- 3Process documented with at least 3 in-progress photos
- 4Any structural problems identified and addressed before moving to detailing
Materials
- Materials listed in your approved proposal
- Tools appropriate to your project type
- Camera or phone for documentation
Tips & Techniques
1Build to your blueprints — don't improvise major structural changes without updating your plan
2Take photos before you cover things up — you'll need them for your final documentation
3If something isn't working, ask for help early — don't wait until the last day
4Core construction should be done by the midpoint of the unit — leave enough time for detailing
