Vocabulary
Composition
The arrangement of visual elements within a frame or design. Good composition guides the viewer's eye and creates balance, tension, or harmony.
Color Theory
The study of how colors relate to each other — including the color wheel, complementary colors, analogous colors, and how color creates mood and meaning.
Vector Graphic
A digital image made of mathematical paths rather than pixels. Vectors can be scaled to any size without losing quality — ideal for logos, icons, and stencils.
Mood Board
A visual collage of images, colors, textures, and type that communicates the feel or direction of a design project before production begins.
Digital Identity
The visual representation of a person or brand online — including icons, color palettes, and design choices that make something recognizable.
Pattern
A repeated decorative design. In art, patterns can be created through repetition of shape, color, line, or texture.
Stencil
A template with cut-out shapes used to reproduce a design by applying ink, paint, or other media through the openings.
